Christmas returns to Kew gardens

Londoners have the chance to return to the magic of Kew Gardens in the lead up to Christmas.

Kew Gardens’ festive winter trail features sparkling tunnels, dancing waterside reflections and trees drenched in colour en route to a panoramic Palm House light display.

Father Christmas is appearing at the botanical gardens, in south west London, which will be decorated with giant illuminations and flickering flames in the Fire Garden.

More than one million twinkling lights will brighten up Kew’s after-dark landscape.

Visitors are told not to miss Aurora at the Holly Walk, a new installation illuminating the night sky like the enchanting visual phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis.

Parkgoers can tuck into festive treats at independent street food vendors offering hot food, sweet treats, spiced winter warmers and hot chocolate.

Majestic heritage trees along the route will be illuminated from different angles, with multicoloured neon swirls.

Christmas at Kew has limited capacity and is running a timed entry system.

The event is open from 4pm to 10pm and visitors choose a time slot for entry with the last being at 8pm.

Officials say the entrance will be via Victoria Gate, Brentford Gate or Lion Gate, depending on your ticket selection.
