Christmas recycling centre opening times in Co Tyrone

Christmas is a time of great happiness and joy for many, with people swapping gifts and spending time with family.

All the extra gifts, toys, and food however often leads to an influx of rubbish and household waste around the home.

A few trips to the local recycling centre are always guaranteed around the festive period, however some of the dumps around Co Tyrone have different opening hours around this time of year.

Here’s a round up of all the Christmas opening hours for recycling centres around Co Tyrone, split up by council area.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Gortrush Recycling Centre, Omagh will open from 9am to 1.30pm on Christmas Eve. and will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From Monday December 27 to Friday December 31 it will revert to its normal opening hours (8.30am to 6.45pm) and will be closed on New Year's Day.

The recycling centres in Dromore, Fintona and Carrickmore will open from 10am to 2pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From Monday December 27 to Friday December 31 they will have their normal opening hours (11am to 5.45pm) and they will be closed on New Year's Day. They will be open on Monday, January 3 from 11am to 6.45pm.

Mid Ulster District Council

Coalisland, Cookstown, Drumcoo, Fivemiletown and Tullyvar Recycling Centres are the Co Tyrone recycling centres which operate under Mid Ulster District Council.

All these recycling centres will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and will all be completely closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

From December 27 to 29, normal opening times will remain in place at these centres.

And from Monday, January 3, normal opening hours will resume completely (except for Tullyvar which will reopen on Tuesday, January 4).

Derry City and Strabane District Council

Strahans Road (Strabane), Newtownstewart, Spamount, Donemana and Plumbridge are the locations of recycling centres in Co Tyrone which fall under Derry City and Strabane District Council.

All of these recycling centres will close at 2pm.

On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, all the sites are closed. On New Year's Eve, all sites will close at 2pm.

On New Year's Day, all the sites are closed and will reopen as normal again on Monday 3 January.
