Christmas presents worth £4,000 stolen from Cardiff house

Christmas presents, jewellery, and electronics worth more than £4,000 have been stolen from a house in Cardiff.

South Wales Police said the burglars smashed rear patio doors, ransacked the house and stole more than 20 items, some of which were already wrapped for Christmas.

Detectives believe the suspects may have used a set of grey and white pillowcases, which are also missing from the house, to carry the stolen items.

The culprits also made a mess in the kitchen with food and drink.

Two pillowcases in this design are also missing from the house in Cyncoed Road (South Wales Police)

The burglary happened in Cyncoed Road sometime 5pm on Tuesday December 10 and lunchtime the following day.

Some of the items stolen include five iPhones, three Moet and Chandon champagne gift sets, Beats headphones and vouchers for a number of stores including Urban Outfitter and Top Shop.

Police said "extensive enquiries" are underway to find those responsible.

Investigating officer, detective constable Kirsty Matthews said: "Being a victim of burglary is always a traumatic experience, but given the time of year, the mess made and Christmas presents being stolen - this is particularly horrible.

"With Christmas Day just around the corner those responsible might be trying to sell the stolen items to make money or even give them as Christmas presents to friends and family.”

Detectives want to speak to drivers with dash cam who may have been in the area during this period and anyone who may have seen the burglars, possibly carrying the pillowcase containing the stolen items.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number number 455569.
