Christmas parties, illegal pub lock-ins and house gatherings busted in Oldham

Police have slapped a number of people with fines after Christmas parties, an illegal pub lock-in and house gatherings were reported in Oldham.

Fines were handed out by officers in the town over the last week, a GMP post on Facebook said.

The post said: "In the last week, Oldham police were called to a number of reports of Covid-19 Regulation breaches.

"They have issued 10 Fixed Penalty Notices."

In the first incident, officers were called to the Grotton area following reports of a 'possible early Christmas party'.

People in attendance were from different households and so officers handed out six fines.

The landlord of a pub was also handed two fines in the Waterhead area for having 'customers inside drinking'.

Two further fines were handed out to people living at homes in Royton and Waterhead after the occupants held house parties.

Officers posted about the incidents on the GMP Saddleworth and Lees Facebook page on Monday.
