Christmas miracle as missing dog returns home after boy writes letter to Santa

A young boy's Christmas wish came true after his beloved missing dog returned home more than five months after going missing.

Devastated Daniel Yanna, 7, penned a sweet note to Father Christmas asking for the much-loved pooch to come home.

And he was left jumping for joy after his festive wish came true - with labrador Basco now firmly by his side at all times once more.

The entire family were left reeling with shock after they received a call from a stranger telling them they had found Basco, mum Jane Yanna told Birmingham Live.

The elated mum said: “A Christmas miracle has happened. After months our lovely dog Basco is back home - the best Christmas present ever!

“We feel great. I still can’t believe it. Our little boy wrote a letter to Santa for Basco to be back and it happened!"

The naughty labrador hadn't been spotted since he escaped from their back garden in Atherstone, Warks, in July.

But Daniel's letter asking Father Christmas for a miracle came true as the Yanna's were once again reunited with their beloved Basco.

Mum Jane said the family were losing hope that they would find him and she thanked helpers Sally Jane and Nicky Seal for their assistance.

She said: “He escaped from our garden in July, he just vanished. There were no signs of him, simply nothing.

"Lots of people helped to look for him and we shared posts everywhere but there were still no signs. We started to stop believing he would come back. I cried for weeks.

“Then on Sunday (December 6) someone called my husband and said that they have our dog because they saw a post of the missing dog on the internet and they brought him home to us.

"Some people are great. He is really happy also and looks healthy.

“It is great even for people who have also lost their dog to show that you shouldn’t give up and to continue to share posts as much as they can because this is what helped us.

"Thank you to everyone who helped us to look for him and shared our posts.”
