Christmas Markets trips from Newcastle Airport go on sale with new city additions

The magic of Christmas markets will be among the rising demand for post-lockdown holidays as Jet2 announces its festive programme is making a return.

Those currently keeping fingers crossed for a break in the sun now will be able to plan further ahead with news of a festive programme of flights from Newcastle to seven destinations, including four special first-time trips.

Jet2.com and Jet2Citybreaks have announced they are bringing back their Christmas Markets packages for winter 2021 and flights and trips from Newcastle Airport are now on sale.

Among them are four new locations, capital cities among them, and the news is set to spark further demand following the huge surge in holiday bookings already reported by Jet2 after the unveiling of Boris Johnson's road map out of lockdown.

Customers can pick from seven Christmas market destinations in total, including the new 'mini-series' of special trips which are to Berlin, Budapest, Cologne, and Copenhagen.

Dedicated trips to Vienna are also making a return, alongside scheduled flights to Krakow and Prague.

Flights and trips will be available from November and Jet2 is reacting early as customers missed out on Christmas markets last year due to the pandemic.

They will cater for people wanting a festive wonderland treat in the build-up to Christmas and Steve Heapy, chief executive officer of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “People missed out on the opportunity to visit Europe’s most magical Christmas market destinations last year, so we’re delighted that these popular trips are back again for 2021."

He said that the trips offer a "sprinkle of magic", adding: "We’re very excited about the return of the programme and we know customers will be equally excited to see the Christmas markets well and truly back."

The roadmap out of lockdown - Everything you need to know

The new mini-series of flights and breaks to Budapest will offer Monday, Thursday and Sunday services between November 25 and January 3, meaning 12 departures in total.

Berlin will have services up to twice-weekly - on Thursdays and Sundays - from November 25 until December 12; Cologne services will be available on Mondays and Fridays from December 6-13; and Copenhagen's from November 26 to December 6 with three departures available on the same days.

Two weekly services from November 26 to December 13 will be on offer on flights and breaks to Vienna and there also will be two weekly services to Krakow and Prague.

Customers will be able to pick from flight-only options with Jet2.com or package options with Jet2CityBreaks, with the latter available for a £60 per person booking deposit.

These include flights; 22kg hold luggage and 10kg cabin baggage and airport transfers. Customers can pick from a choice of two to five-star central hotels.
