Christmas magic in the air as Shotts residents turn out for festive lights switch-on

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Shotts.

There was a magical feeling in the air at the town’s official festive lights switch on.

Hundreds of residents turned out braving the damp and cold to watch the live entertainment at the fun-filled family event.

The Christmas lights switch-on was sponsored by Bells Food Group and featured a performance from R&B artist Emiah Love from Coatbridge and local dance schools.

Santa Claus dropped in to speak with the children there to make sure they’ve been behaving and hear their gift wishes.

The crowds were also treated to a selection of Christmas carols from a choir before joining in the countdown before the lights were illuminated.

Faces also lit-up as North Lanarkshire’s Provost Jean Jones and Depute Provost Tom Castles performed the flick of the switch with a little help and encouragement from those in the crowd.
