It is one of the most popular events on the calendar - the annual Maitland Firies Lolly Run - and it's on again soon.
Maitland Fire and Rescue captain Paul Casey said Monday, December 21 through to 23 are the dates to mark down.
"We'll be in Lorn and Bolwarra one night, Maitland and Telarah the next ,and then Gillieston Heights on the other night," Captain Casey said. "The kids love it it, but we love it too, seeing so many kids happy.
"This year, with COVID, it will be a little different. Santa will have to stay on the truck - in the past he's got down and mingled in the local parks - but we can't do that safely this year.
"And we can't go to Maitland Hospital either which we like top do every year.
"But Maitland Greyhound Club have kindly supplied us with about 80 kilograms of lollies, so we won't be running out of lollies in a hurry. It should be great.
"We'll also be at the Greyhound meeting on the Monday night."
Captain Casey believes after such a difficult year, the Lolly Run is more important than ever.
"A lot of people have been feeling isolated, so hopefully this will just bring some fun to people."

"When we get to the top of a street we give the sirens a blast," Capt Casey said. "You'll know we're there all right."
