Perth takeaway China China took lunch to men from Stanley in Perthshire who meet up for DIY to keep themselves in the best possible mental health.
Stanley and District Men’s Shed accepted the kind offer from the Craigie Chinese takeaway owner, Pete Chan of a free meal for each of its members last week.
As a champion of his community, regularly gifting food to others, Pete rates mental health issues very highly, especially as lockdown and the prolonged pandemic has put pressure on everyone.
“It’s so important to look out for and check in on each other,” he told the PA. “With the imminent Government announcements and likely restrictions, it’ll be time to ‘batten down the hatches again’ and weather more mental health struggles.
“I had the pleasure in cooking for and serving the men of the Stanley and District Men’s Shed, this lunchtime.
“They had the choice of chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, served as individual meals.
“It all went down a storm and I made a promise that I’d return to the Stanley Shed next year.”
