Christmas FM returns this weekend to spread festive cheer around the country

While the Toy Show will undoubtedly take the majority of the focus and Christmas goodwill this weekend, there's a little extra treat for all you boys and girls that have been good.

After their recent online-only launch a few weeks ago, the beloved Christmas FM will be returning to the airwaves this weekend.

Every year, the Christmas-themed radio station is a stalwart of offices and places of work around Ireland but with the majority of the country working from home, you can now blast some Christmas tunes in your home.

The radio station starts broadcasting at midding this Saturday, 28 November from the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin, who have given the studio space for free.

Speaking about the launch, a spokesperson said the station will “help lift the spirits of the entire nation” – which, let’s face it, is badly needed after the year we’ve had.

This is the 13th year that Christmas FM has been on the air and for the last 12 years, the station has raised almost €2.5 million for a variety of charities.

This year will be no different because the station is aiming to raise over €200,000 for the charity Alone.

The costs of running the station are covered by various sponsors - Cadbury, Coca Cola and An Post are the main sponsors for 2020 - which ensures that all on-air fundraising and donations will go directly to Alone.
