As December approaches, it’s almost time to drag the Christmas decorations down from the loft, and deck the halls with holly. But the piece de resistance is of course the Christmas tree.
Money is tight this year, so you may be considering a cheap artificial tree as an alternative to more expensive versions. But a cheap tree can be a totally stunning, attention-grabbing option if you follow the tips of one Christmas-obsessed TikToker, who has taken decorating to a whole new level.
Following Macy Blackwell’s rules means you will no longer be throwing decorations on the tree as they come out of the box.
She's left viewers wowed by her incredible tree that looks very high end, and has revealed a few easy tips for those wanting to go the extra mile with their decorations this year.
Macy suggests by suggesting that people should invest in plenty of lights to really make it sparkle - adding that wow factor.
"Make sure to wrap each branch individually," Macy says. "You need at least 100 lights per foot of your Christmas tree."
Next up is the addition of fake snow: "Make the appearance of freshly fallen snow by cutting a faux fur ribbon and place horizontally to create the look of freshly fallen snow".
The illusion perfected, she moves onto the next stage, adding big decorative branches into the tree.
"Big stems should be placed in the same direction of the branch and I focus the majority of mine at the top," says the TikToker.
Any ‘holes’ in the tree should be plugged with large ornaments, says Macy. "They should be nestled deep in the tree and attached closely to the branch."
She loves wire ribbon, and creates curly twines using sections cut into 12" to 18" sections. "Tuck some ends into the tree," she advises, "and place in into any spare spots in the tree".
Finally, the merry exercise comes to an end with the addition of the most detailed ornaments on the tree. It looks a picture and very Christmassy.
