A man is still fighting for his life almost a week after he was set upon in a brutal Christmas Eve attack.
The 39-year-old victim suffered a serious head injury after the sickening street assault.
And today police said the man remains in hospital in a critical condition after the attack on Chester Road in Little Sutton, near Ellesmere Port .
The victim, from Ellesmere Port was attacked near the Smithy Lane junction at 8.20pm on Christmas Eve.
Police also confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of assault following the violent scenes.
The arrested man has since been released under investigation.
Today Cheshire Police urged anyone who might have witnessed the attack or has any footage to come forward.
A spokesman said: "Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing and anyone with information or footage that may help detectives with their investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 596796."
