Christmas Eve chaos outside Aldi as shoppers queue waiting for doors to open

Before Aldi even opened its doors this morning, shoppers were queuing outside hoping to get their last minute Christmas bits.

Around 50 people queued outside Aldi's Knotty Ash store with trolleys at the ready.

It follows a weekend of supermarket chaos across Liverpool with car parks grid locked, reports of shoppers crying in Tesco and others describing places like Asda like a "war zone".

On Twitter, shoppers have been sharing how early they've been up today hoping to beat the typical Christmas rush.

User @jo_napoli said: "Tesco at dawn"

Another user @spiv85 at 7.22am, said: "Just dropped my bird off at work (asda) and the car park is almost full."

And it's not just supermarkets which are already busy. On Twitter, people are reporting queues outside John Lewis in Liverpool.
