Christmas Day thief attacks and robs man carrying bag of presents

A man carrying bags of gifts on Christmas Day was attacked and then robbed.

Police say they were called to Tonge Moor Road in Bolton yesterday afternoon to reports of a robbery.

A 35-year-old man had been assaulted by a male attacker before a female thief swooped in and stole his sacks of presents.

Officers say they have already arrested the 38-year-old woman on suspicion of robbery but she has since been released on bail while they continue their investigations.

In a post on Facebook, an officer from GMP's Bolton North team released a statement about the incident.

They said: "A female has been arrested following a robbery in Tonge Moor.

"Just before 3pm yesterday (Friday, December 25), police received reports of a robbery on Tonge Moor Road.

"The 35-year-old victim had been assaulted by a male and then had his bags of Christmas presents stolen by a female.

"A 38-year-old female was arrested in Tonge Moor on suspicion of robbery and taken into police custody for questioning.

"She has since been released on conditional bail whilst further enquiries are conducted."
