Christmas Day horror as Gardai called to multiple 'stabbings' as two hospitalised in Dundalk, Co Louth

Two people were hospitalised after separate alleged stabbings in Dundalk late on Christmas Day.

A young man in his 20s was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted in the Castleross area at 11:15pm on Friday night.

The man is not believed to have been seriously injured while no arrests were made.

Gardai confirmed enquiries are ongoing, a spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended the scene of an alleged assault in the Castleross area of Dundalk yesterday, 25 December 2020 at approximately 11.15pm.

"One man, aged in his 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

In a separate incident an hour earlier, a woman was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after an alleged stabbing in the Saltown area.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing."
