Christmas cruise - behind the scenes of world's most luxurious festive voyage

Exclusive behind-the-scenes secrets of the world's most expensive Christmas cruise will be revealed tonight (Christmas Eve).

Cameras have been allowed on board Seven Seas Splendor for the World’s Most Expensive Christmas Cruise programme to be shown on Channel 5. Viewers will be astounded at the sheer luxury of facilities enjoyed by guests.

The new one-hour documentary follows Seven Seas Splendor’s inaugural festive season at sea. Viewers can watch as 542 crew work around the clock to ensure that the ship’s guests have a magical time onboard.

Led by Cruise Director John Barron the crew transform the ship with 70 boxes of decorations at a value of almost £70,000. The ship’s festive look includes three Christmas trees in the atrium, 15 trees throughout the rest of the ship and a 260-foot garland wrapping around the central staircase.

During the holidays, Seven Seas Splendor will have approximately 200lbs of geese, 600lbs of turkeys, 200lbs of ham, 20 different types of cheese and over 38,000 bottles of wine onboard for guests to enjoy. In addition, there are eight varieties of Christmas cookies, 1,000 portions of pumpkin pie and 200 logs of Bûche de Noël on board.

Viewers will also witness various guest experiences both on and off the ship, including a visit to the beautiful private island of Grand Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

Seven Seas Splendor, the newest ship in Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ impressive fleet, includes five restaurants and three elegant bars and lounges. It also contains the world's most exclusive residence at se - The Regent Suite, Seven Seas Splendor - which offers the highest benchmark of luxury, and is the perfect setting for the documentary.

The programme, produced by ITN Productions, will air on Channel 5 at 8pm.
