Neighbours living on a street in Monton have been using the weekly 'clap for carers' to spread a little early Christmas cheer.
Residents in Hawthorne Avenue, Monton, decorated their front gardens with Christmas trees and Santa Claus toys on Thursday evening.
A number of them sat in their front gardens to have a chat and a drink with other neighbours, while observing social distancing measures.
One of those involved was Debbie Egglenton, a retired beautician.
She said: "A lot of people are feeling quite lonely at the moment so we've decided to make a bit of a party out of it."
Debbie said the idea came after she was speaking with one of her neighbours, whose daughter works for the NHS.
"We were having a chat last week and we thought it would be nice to start having themed nights.
"I couldn't contribute that much to it as I'm normally with my in-laws for Christmas, so only had a tiny tree. They made up for it and went completely overboard!
"There's so many people that are isolated and it just cheers everyone up a bit."
Next week, the Christmas theme is set to be replaced by something else. One idea mooted is superheroes, although Debbie remains unconvinced.
She added: "This was our first themed one but we want to keep it going and are trying to think of ideas.
"I don't have any outfits but someone who lives on the other side is a dancer and her brother's an actor, so they have a wardrobe full of things.
"She suggested superheroes but I'm not sure about that one!"
