Christmas Coca-Cola Truck Tour cancelled in Northern Ireland due to coronavirus

The Christmas Coca-Cola Truck Tour of Northern Ireland has been cancelled for the first time in 10 years.

The decision has been made due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola told Belfast Live : "In light of Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot go ahead with our annual Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour in Northern Ireland this year.

"We know this will be disappointing for many people, but our priority is the safety of our consumers and employees.

"We really look forward to welcoming people back next year when the Truck Tour returns."

The company announced on Twitter on Friday that the annual tour of Ireland was cancelled.

It said: "Due to current restrictions around the country, our Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour won’t go ahead this year.

"We know it's disappointing, but we’ll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season. We look forward to seeing you next year!"

The Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour came to Custom House Square in Belfast last year.

It was its ninth year of bringing festive joy to people across the UK, returning with new locations.

In 2019, the tour raised funds and awareness for the work done by Crisis - as the company pledged to donate 10p in exchange for every can placed in their recycling bins throughout the truck tour.

In previous years the truck pulled into SSE Arena in Belfast before moving on to Derry.
