Christmas Coca-Cola truck tour cancelled for first time in 10 years due to coronavirus

The UK's Christmas Coca-Cola truck tour has been cancelled for the first time in 10 years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The big red truck is popular with families who bring their kids out to greet its tour during the festive season.

The truck is bedecked with Christmas lights and ordinarily visits around 40 towns and cities around the UK.

Huge crowds enjoying the season's festive cheer travel to the closest truck locations to grab a free bottle of coca-cola and a picture every Christmas.

Coca-Cola announced that it will not be travelling across the country this year due to the current coronavirus restrictions.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "In light of further Covid-19 restrictions announced around the country and in line with Government guidelines, unfortunately, we can’t go ahead with our annual Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour this year."

"We know this will be disappointing for many people, but our priority is the safety of our consumers and employees.

"We really look forward to welcoming people back next year when the Truck Tour returns."

It is the first time the tour has been cancelled since it first began touring ten years ago.

It traditionally begins its tour every November.

However England is currently under its second national Covid-19 lockdown, which is expected to last at least a month into early December.
