Christmas 2022 bin collection dates: When will rubbish and recycling be collected in Carmarthen?

Christmas is coming and the busy festive period can cause our bins to fill up a lot quicker, so it is good to know when the rubbish and recycling bins will be collected over Christmas and New Year.

So here are all the bin day changes in Carmarthen this year so you can keep track of when you need to change out of your Christmas pyjamas and put the bins out.

Recycling and waste collections on Monday, December 26 (Boxing Day), will instead be collected Saturday, December 24. All other recycling and waste collection days for the week of December 26 – January 1 will be as normal. This will include hygiene and nappy waste collections. For the week commencing Monday, January 2, collections will take place one day later than usual. The council are asking residents to put bins out by 6am on collection days.

All Carmarthenshire County Council recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day and will close at 12 noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. They will be open on their usual opening days during the remainder of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr. Edward Thomas said: “I would like to thank our waste and recycling collection crews for their hard work and efforts over the coming Christmas and New Year’s holidays. I would also like to wish everyone in Carmarthenshire a Merry Christmas and please remember to recycle as much as possible and keep to the three black bag limit for your non-recyclable waste.

“Should you wish to dispose of your real Christmas tree once the festivities are over, you can do so by taking it to one of our recycling centres in January and get a bag of ‘Merlin’s Magic Compost’ free of charge.”

For more information and to check your collection day and recycling centre opening times, please visit the recycling page on Carmarthenshire County Council’s website.
