Christmas 2019 supermarket opening and closing times for all the major UK chains

It happens to the best of us - you've forgotten some of those important Christmas Day essentials and find yourself trudging to the nearest supermarket.

With most stores closing at different times over the festive break, finding somewhere to do your last minute shopping can be a bit daunting when you don't know where to start.

Don't despair, we've put together a handy list of opening and closing times of all major supermarkets over the Christmas period.

The majority of stores - including Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's - are operating at slightly different hours on Christmas Eve, but will be closed on December 25th.

Whether you need to pick up some Prosecco or turkey seasoning, there's plenty on offer at the UK's supermarket chains.

See below for a full list of seasonal hours for all major stores.

Tesco

Customers should check online at tesco.com for full details of their nearest store's opening hours over the festive break.

  • December 23rd - all stores will operate normal opening hours.

  • December 24th - most stores will open at their usual time and close at 7pm or 10pm.

  • December 25th - CLOSED

  • December 23rd - some stores will open at 5am, 6am or 7am and close at 11pm.
  • December 24th - most stores will open at the same time and close at 7pm. 
  • December 25th - CLOSED

Sainsbury's

  • December 23rd - most stores will operate normal opening hours.
  • December 24th - larger stores will be open between 6am and 10pm.

Morrisons

Waitrose

Supermarket chain Waitrose has confirmed that most of its stores will be open on Christmas Eve - find out more on their website.

  • December 24th - most stores will be open between 7am and 6pm.

Aldi
