Christine McGuinness thrilled as McDonald's opens but for touching reason

Many of us are thrilled that McDonald's has reopened and Christine McGuinness is too, but her joy is for a heartbreaking reason.

Christine, 32, shared a photo of her children opening a happy meal for the first time in three months to Instagram.

The mum-of-three opened up in the caption saying it was a "very happy meal" that left her with a sigh of relief.

All of Christine and husband Paddy's children suffer with autism and have food aversions which make it difficult for them to eat some foods.

And Christine shared a lengthy caption which explained her children's issues.

She said: "Three months later.

"This really is a very ‘Happy meal’.

"The only meal all three children will eat.

"Its beige, it’s dry, it looks the same, smells the same and tastes the same.

"Not everyone will understand our happiness that @mcdonaldsuk is open, but those whose children have food aversions will know the sigh of relief from this mama!.."

Her followers, many of whom have children with autism, were quick to offer Christine support in the comments.

Katie Turner said: "This is the only hot meal my five year old son Carter will eat. He survives on ‘billy bear ham sandwiches' for breakfast lunch and dinner! So I cried with happiness when they opened again just to see him eat something cooked!! I understand with every bone in my body the pure delight you must have felt."

Tammy2511 said: "My son is autistic and is all about the beige food-is very unwilling to try anything 'different!'"

Lisajlangers said: "Yep, my eight year old who has Autism said it was the best day of his life when he had one on Wednesday."

And sheryl_rose8 said: "My nephew has autism, I completely understand this post. Great news."
