Christine McGuinness still shows off her Aintree dress despite being bed-ridden

Christine McGuinness really put the hours in to get her Grand National dress just perfect.

But disaster struck when she fell ill the night before and didn't get to show it off.

That little set-back wasn't going to hold her plans back.

The 31-year-old, married to funnyman Paddy, took to Instagram to make sure the world got to see how good her Aintree outfit would have looked at the track.

Christine said: "Devoed I'm missing Aintree for the first time in years.

"I'm looking at everyone's photos, so gutted I'm not there. It's our annual date and the weather is fab."

Another post a few hours later said: "I hate being unwell. I simply haven't got the time to be unwell."

On Sunday, a made up Christine posted two videos to her story to share the bright pink dress with her followers.

In the first video, Christine can be seen standing in her bedroom in the mid-length body con dress that sported a ruffled shoulder.

She explained that she was defying doctor's order to stay in bed by wearing the dress out to a fashion show in Manchester.

Looking incredible, Christine said: "So yesterday I missed Aintree for the first time in years, I was so gutted but I just wasn't well enough.

"So today I've put my Aintree dress on and i'm going to a fashion show in Manchester because why the hell not."

In a second clip, she said: "I'm so happy that I'm going out after yesterday.

"The doctor said 'you have to stay in bed'. Hun, I don't have to stay in bed, I'm going out."

Queen of Aintree, Coleen Rooney was also absent from this year's festival, posting to Twitter after her no-show on Ladies Day.

She said she was "gutted to be missing it" in a reply to Radio presenter Pete Price.

Pete tweeted: "Ever year at GrandNational I get a photo with this lovely Lady.

"I look forward to seeing her in fact I bumped into her recently in Barbados.

Coleen then replied: "Wish I was there...thank you and have fun xxx"
