Christine McGuinness shares unseen shots from girls' locker room on ITV's The Games

The contestants of ITV’s The Games might be competing against each other but Christine McGuinness has proved they are becoming the best of friends behind the scenes of the sport themed reality show.

A host of stars have gathered together for the new prime-time competition that sees stars from the small screen and music charts battled against each other in a number of events.

Christine, 34, has grown close to her co-stars that include Love Island star Olivia Attwood, 31, singer Chelcee Grimes, 30, and celebrity offspring Phoenix Brown, 23 – who is the daughter of Spice Girls icon Mel B, 46.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Christine shared snaps of the ladies hanging out together behind-the-scenes of the new ITV show.

Photos showed the ladies wearing matching tracksuits as they prepared to have a go at running a hurdles race together – while another snap gave a glimpse of the girls’ locker room as the group of four posed in swimming costumes.

Other snaps showed the ladies walking and smiling together back stage at a venue, and another showed them dressed in lycra and wearing crash helmets as they prepared to cycle in a velodrome.

Following the first day of competing on camera, Christine revealed she had got one of her least favourite activities out of the way.

Sharing footage of herself on the track, the star smiled at the camera on Instagram Stories and wrote a caption stating: “So happy that’s done. Hurdles are not for me.”

Fellow contestant Olivia also revealed she was glad the hurdles were over in a video she shared on her own Instagram Stories.

She said: “Ah guys. First one’s done. I got through it. I didn’t knock any over and I didn’t fall over and that’s all I wanted from the hurdles.

“I’ve really buggered my shoulder up even more than it was before, so that’s not great, but some meds overnight and we’ll see what happens.”

She added: “The girls smashed it. Phoenix, Chelsea… It’s a photo finish. I didn’t see its because I was still on the third hurdle, but they did well.”

Olivia went on to explain she fears she will be held back as she deals with her injured shoulder.

And in an earlier Intagram post she explained that she had injured herself during training for the ITV show.

She wrote: “The last couple of months have been wild. Way tougher than I ever imagined! I knew returning to a sporting environment would be a weird one for me but I really unlocked some memories I didn’t even know I had.

“A torn rotator cuff, not a drop of alcohol, chlorine in my hair for the first time in years and just a few meltdowns later and it’s finally show day!!!”

She added: “Now let’s hope this shoulder can hold up and I make you all proud.”
