Christine McGuinness says she was 'relieved' at daughter's autism diagnosis as she broke down in tears on Loose Women

Christine McGuinness broke down in tears as she discussed her youngest child's autism diagnosis.

The 31-year-old confirmed that the three-year-old had autism last week by writing an emotional poem about all three of her children.

Felicity's diagnosis comes years after she and husband Paddy McGuinness were told their twins, Leo and Penelope, also had the developmental disability.

Appearing on Loose Women on Monday, Christine said that she was "relieved" to have received confirmation and explained why it has been easier the second time round.

"I think because I understand it more now. With the twins it was quite a shock and heartbreak," the Real Housewives of Cheshire star said.

She said they were 'relieved' with the diagnosis (ITV)

"We didn't know anything bout Autism. Just our children had a life long condition with no cure.

"Now with the experience with the twins and knowledge it prepared us for the third one.

"Felicity has been diagnosed. We knew it was coming. We spotted the signs. We were more prepared this time."

She later added: "For us it's a relief all three children have this diagnosis. They can come across as being difficult. I wanted Felicity to have a diagnosis before she goes to school so they know."

On her relationship with Bolton comedian Paddy, Christine said that they barely go out together and at home "they are carers".

She said: "We don't go on date nights. The quality time we do miss. We don't have that. We've just accepted that's how it is for us. We've been together for 13 years. At home we are carers."

Christine then read the poem out on air before having to leave the ITV show's set as they cut to an ad break.

It said: "I am so proud to be your mummy, you are everything to me.

"All three of you are thriving with ASD [Autistic Spectrum Disorder]. I will never try and change you, you are perfect as you are.

"Mummy is going to change the world to understand her superstars. You are sensitive, you are strong, and you have such a special bond.

"You are funny and talented, cheeky and sweet, you all love your toys to be kept extra neat.

"Shining brighter than the stars above. You are special, so wanted and oh so loved.

"Leo, Penelope and Felicity, you are unaware of the positive impact you have, even on the tough days you even make me laugh.

"My trio, my babies, my fabulous three. Together we are a strong, proud, unique family. All my love always, Mummy."

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
