Christine McGuinness says her autistic children are struggling with lockdown

Christine McGuinness admitted her children are struggling with the coronavirus lockdown.

The mum-of-three appeared via video on This Morning to share how she and her family are coping with the current situation.

The model and her comic actor husband, Paddy, are parents to Leo, Penelope and Felicity who all have Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This Morning host Ruth Langsford asked Christine about the struggles her family are facing, saying autistic people "don't cope well with change".

32-year-old Christine said: "It's really been difficult and online we try to keep things positive and fun but at home, we are struggling.

"This has been so difficult this week trying to explain to the children that we've got to stay indoors and we can't go out when we've spent years and years encouraging our children to go to places and to go out at the weekend.

"Now, we tell them to stay in and they are struggling.

"My daughter Penelope really struggles with anxiety as well as autism so she's already gone really quiet in herself, I'm not getting as much eye contact, her communication isn't as good.

"So I am worried about what effect this is going to have" but added, "we've got to stay home to stay healthy and well.
