Christine McGuinness relieved McDonald's has reopened as it's the only meal all her kids will eat

Christine McGuinness has spoken of her relief that McDonald's has now reopened because it's the only food all three of her autistic children will eat.

After three months of waiting Christine, the wife of Take Me Out and Top Gear star Paddy McGuinness, says she's happy that six-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and younger daughter Felicity, three, have finally been able to have a Happy Meal.

She says parents of children with food aversions will understand what she's been going through.

"Three months later," she wrote on her Instagram.

"This really is a very Happy Meal. The only meal all three children will eat."

Explaining why the food is 'safe' to them because of their development disorder she said: "Its beige, it’s dry, it looks the same, smells the same and tastes the same."

She added: "Not everyone will understand our happiness that @mcdonaldsuk is open, but those who’s children have food aversions will know the sigh of relief from this mama! #FullTummies #HappyChildren #HappyMummy #autism #SensoryFood #AutismAwareness."

McDonald's has been gradually reopening its sites across the UK amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In April The Real Housewives of Cheshire guest star, 32, shared a joyous video of her children giggling in delight after McDonald's sent some Happy Meals boxes so they could enjoy an 'at home Happy Meal.'

"This is not an advert, just a very grateful mummy," she said.

Speaking out about the issue previously she explained: "This is not ‘fussy eaters’ this is down to struggling with change, massive change in their little lives.

"I know we are not alone, I’ve had so many messages about McDs!

"If you know, you know.. McDs is a ‘safe’ food, it always looks the same, it tastes the same, the texture and smell is always the same.. and it’s beige and dry!"

Christine and Paddy, 46, recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary in lockdown, and she revealed that Paddy forgot the occasion.

"Happy anniversary," she wrote with a photo of the couple with red balloons.️

"13 years together, 9 years married!!!

"Even though you totally forgot... again!

"You are forgiven because I couldn’t do life without laughter and you give me so much!

"Happy anniversary my love."
