Christina Ricci's living room embodies the 'quiet luxury' trend with this 'surprisingly subtle' color

'Quiet luxury' shouldn't be synonymous with boring. As the term has become increasingly ubiquitous, it's often used just to describe rooms without much color or character. Christina Ricci's living room is poised to change that.

The actress took to Instagram to share an image of her makeup before the Critics Choice Awards in her old money-style living room. The space is simple and elegant, with intricate build-ins, a gray rug, and dark wood furniture, but in all its beauty, its paint has excited experts the most.

Christina's painted her walls the lightest, slightly gray-green color we've ever seen and a hue that offers a new way to can get behind the quiet luxury movement.

The color in question stands out on its own, but it also enhances the luxurious quality of Christina's space – and it's a look that hasn't gone unnoticed by our editor, Jennifer.

'Though this space has many of the elements traditionally associated with quiet luxury, like high-quality materials and detailed walls, the living room color puts a new spin on the look,' says Jennifer Ebert, Digital Editor at Homes & Gardens. 'Because of its understated quality, the sage green walls are a timeless choice, reflecting the classic nature of the quiet luxury trend, but in a shade more interesting than traditional green, gray, white, or cream.'

Carlin van Noppen, head interior designer and founder at Fig Linens and Home, states: 'I always think of sage green paint as a surprisingly subtle shade. When we think of green paints, we don't necessarily think 'neutral', but grayish greens show that isn't true. In this iteration, Christina Ricci's green-gray paint fits in perfectly with a pared-back, quiet, luxury color scheme.'

Far from being a passing fad, experts love Christina Ricci's living room wall idea beyond how it fits into the quiet luxury trend. Jennifer states: 'This color is always in style. I love the way that it looks with the gray carpet and dark natural wood in Christina's space, but it's incredibly versatile. We can expect to see this color a lot more as our idea of 'neutral' palettes expands.'

Sage green is a new neutral, standing proud among the ranks of colors like beige, cream, and gray. We can't wait to see more of the shade in 2024.
