Christina Aguilera was at the Manchester Christmas Markets - and fans can't believe they missed her

Pop superstar Christina Aguilera brought her The X Tour to Manchester this week - and it appears she had chance to slip unnoticed to the Manchester Christmas Markets.

It seems Christina, who played the Manchester Arena, couldn't resist a trip to the nearby markets.

The Beautiful singer shared a photo on her social media of her raising a souvenir mulled wine mug with a pal.

Christina, who has a hit Christmas album My Kind of Christmas, raised her mug dressed to ward off the chill in a white hoodie over a black cap, accessorised with large hoop earrings.

"Nothing like a Christmas village in Europe!" she exclaimed, and followers recognised it as Manchester, where she played before Birmingham, her last European dates before The X Tour heads to Mexico in December.

"Queen of going round the Manchester Christmas markets," said one fan on Twitter about the snap.

"DUDE SHE WAS AT THE MARKETS," shouted another excited fan.

"Welcome to #Manchester," commented another.

Another Christina fan said: "I’m fumin I didn’t go to try and spot her!"

And another tweeted: "A legendary queen. Loved meeting you in Manchester! Hope you enjoyed the Manchester Christmas markets."

The council's city centre spokesman Pat Karney retweeted the American singer's photo with the words: "You are very welcome on the UK's top Christmas Market."

This was the first time Christina has toured in the UK for more than 10 years and the set list included her hits Dirrty and Can't Hold Us Down.

Fans in the audience at her Manchester show included Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn who played Sinead Osbourne in the soap.
