Cincinnati Bengals guard Christian Westerman returned to the team Wednesday.
Westerman was on the Exempt/Left Squad list after missing the team’s Week 2 preseason game and had until 4 p.m. ET today to decide if he would return.
The decision to return means Westerman is back and counting against the roster, though it doesn’t sound like he’ll suit up Thursday against the New York Giants.
Zac Taylor had said he was in touch with Westerman, who was dealing with a personal issue, though a report had suggested the guard intended to retire.
Either way, Westerman is back now and will re-enter the fray in an effort to make the final 53, though in the time he was gone, guys like rookie Michael Jordan seemed to pass him on the depth chart at left guard.
