Christian Vieri tells Liverpool to sign 'perfect' striker this summer

Legendary Italian centre-forward Christian Vieri thinks Liverpool should look to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Reds currently boast one of the most fearsome attacking lineups in European football and showcased their firepower on the way to FA Cup and League Cup glory this season. They also came up just short in pursuit of the Premier League and Champions League prizes.

However, the team's attacking options may look different in the coming months. Sadio Mane is said to be ready to leave Liverpool to join Bayern Munich this summer, while both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are tied to contracts that expire at the end of next season.

Divock Origi will also leave the club in this window, having proven his worth as an excellent rotation option and impact substitute.

Although Liverpool added Luis Diaz to their ranks in January and also have Diogo Jota to call on, it is expected they will add reinforcements up top to replace the departing Origi and potentially departing Mane.

A number of big-name players have been mentioned as possible targets and Vieri believes Liverpool should look to Naples to find a possible solution.

"If I were Liverpool, I would go and take Osimhen from Napoli," he said, per Napoli Magazine (h/t Sport Witness ). "Everyone runs in Klopp’s squad, they go a thousand miles an hour. He would be perfect."

Osimhen has been an excellent acquisition for Napoli and showed his pedigree last season with 18 goals and six assists in all competitions. The Nigerian has already been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Vieri's opinion on goalscorers is undoubtedly one that carries a lot of clout. The powerful striker netted 142 times in 264 appearances in the Italian top flight and 23 in 49 appearances for his country.
