Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud - Chelsea forwards ranked from best to worst

One area where Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was keen to add strength to in January was the front line.

The Blues head coach wanted a new goalscoring winger or striker to come in for the rest of the campaign, however that never came through.

No doubt, when the summer transfer window does eventually open up then the Blues will look to add some more firepower to the squad.

But where have the Chelsea forwards ranked this season?

7. Michy Batshuayi

It’s been another disappointing season for Michy Batshuayi, having been a back-up for the majority of the campaign and then disappointing on his one start.

The Belgian’s one highlight of the campaign came when he scored the winner in the Champions League away at Ajax.

However, this summer could end up with Batshuayi finally moving on from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

6. Pedro

Despite some regular starts at the beginning of the season, Pedro picked up an injury during the warm up away at Norwich and lost his place.

Pedro has mainly had to watch from the sidelines and he has started just eight Premier League matches this season, with another three Champions League appearances off the bench.

With his contract up in the summer, it’s likely the 32-year-old is set to leave the Blues.

5. Callum Hudson-Odoi

The 19-year-old had to spend the first part of the season on the sidelines as he recovered from his ruptured Achilles’ tendon.

He was given a few starts by Lampard, with seven in the Premier League and another one in the Champions League.

However, with just three goals and another five assists, he will be hoping next season will be the real breakout campaign.

4. Olivier Giroud

It would have been a surprise to see Olivier Giroud so far up this list earlier in the campaign and it was highly likely he was going to leave in January.

But with no new signing coming in, the 33-year-old was kept and it was a good thing he did as the slotted in well when Tammy Abraham picked up his injury.

Now, Giroud is about to stay with the club for another season and will no doubt play a bigger role in the 2020/21 campaign.

3. Willian

The 31-year-old has been a key man for Lampard this season, with the Brazilian having been a regular on the wing.

Lampard has trusted Willian to play an important role on both sides of the ball, but he hasn’t quite been as consistent as he would have wanted.

Willian’s contract also runs out in the summer, but negotiations have stalled and it’s looking more likely that he will move on.

2. Christian Pulisic

It has been a slightly strange season for Pulisic, who didn’t see any Premier League action in September, but then burst out with a hat-trick against Burnley.

Towards the end of 2019, the American’s performances were excellent, however he suffered an adductor injury which has kept him out of action.

However, there were some really encouraging signs which Blues fans should be excited about for next season.

1. Tammy Abraham

There was a lot of pressure on Tammy Abraham going into the Chelsea first team, taking the number nine shirt and being asked to lead the line.

However, with 15 goals in all competitions and another four assists, he certainly has proved that he can cope with it at the top level.

When he returns to action after his ankle injury he will be hoping to add to his goal tally.
