Christian Pulisic's verdict on incoming Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel

Christian Pulisic has already got a good idea of incoming Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

The German, who was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain last month, is jumping straight back into the managerial hotseat.

He is set to replace Frank Lampard, who was axed on Monday by Roman Abramovich following a spell of two Premier League wins in eight.

It leaves the Blues ninth in the table and fighting to land a spot in Europe next season.

Abramovich has acted now with some time left in the campaign to fight back a top-four finish.

And the Russian is set to call upon the services of a manager he has long been appreciative of in the form of Tuchel.

It is an added bonus that the 47-year-old has coached some of the players before, including Pulisic.

The United States international can thank Tuchel for much of his development at Borussia Dortmund, where he made his name.

It was Tuchel that handed Pulisic his debut at the Signal Iduna Park and he went on to become a key part of his team.

The former Mainz manager would go on to leave Dortmund in 2017, but the young winger was quick to speak up for the coach.

"I'm just very thankful for everything [Tuchel] did for me," Pulisic said back in 2017, as quoted by Bundesliga.com.

"Tuchel always just trusted me and gave me a chance.

"Of course he's given me tips and feedback with what he sees every day in training and stuff like that, small things."

That is the sort of relationship Abramovich is happy to see at Stamford Bridge after reports of players falling out behind the scenes over the past few months.

Tuchel also has experience managing Thiago Silva at PSG, while misfiring duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner both came from clubs that employ similar tactics to that of the former Dortmund boss.

It is hoped that he can bring the best out of the German pair, who cost the club over £120m in the summer.
