Christian Pulisic drops major Chelsea transfer hint amid Gabriel Slonina message

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has hinted at a possible transfer exit from Stamford Bridge next year in a message to loanee Gabriel Slonina.

Pulisic signed for the Blues back in 2019 in a deal worth around £45million but has since struggled to impose himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old has registered 44 goal contributions in 123 appearances for Chelsea after arriving from Borussia Dortmund, just one goal shy of his record in 127 games for the German outfit.

Pulisic opened up on his frustrations under former manager Thomas Tuchel in his new book 'My Journey So Far' admitting he was 'dumbfounded' with some of the German's decisions. The American winger was a late substitute in Graham Potter's first game in charge of the Blues and rumours continue to link Pulisic with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old could be set for a period of the sidelines after sustaining an injury whilst on international duty with the U.S Men's National Soccer Team (USMNT). A statement on the USMNT's official website read: "Christian Pulisic is off today's roster because of a knock he took in training earlier this week. He will be evaluated day-to-day for his availability to play against Saudi Arabia on September 27 in Murcia, Spain."

The injury comes as a major setback for Pulisic who would've been hoping to impress Potter ahead of a busy period of fixtures in October and hopefully kickstart his Chelsea career. Blues' loanee Gabriel Slonina has since revealed that the American winger messaged the young goalkeeeper after it was confirmed that Slonina had been signed for a fee of £12million from Chicago Fire, before returning on-loan with the MLS outfit until January 2023.

Slonina said: "I did give him a message when I was in Chelsea, signing and everything. He [Pulisic] said he's super excited for me to be with the club and hopefully we can see the field together."

Reading between the lines, Pulisic's use of the word 'hopefully' could hint that the 24-year-old isn't expecting to be at Stamford Bridge further than next season. Reports have linked Pulisic with a move to Serie A giants Juventus as well as Premier League rivals Newcastle.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling and failed pursuits of Raphinha and Richarlison hint that the Blues are looking to sign a new winger which could force Pulisic out of the door at Stamford Bridge. Potter will have the rest of the season to assess the 24-year-old's future at Chelsea before taking a decision in either the January or summer transfer window next year which could see Pulisic leave the club after a difficult four years.
