Christian Pulisic delivers Jadon Sancho verdict amid Chelsea transfer links

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic believes Jadon Sancho's time at Borussia Dortmund would stand him in good stead to make a switch to the Premier League once the next transfer window opens.

The England international, who is poised to resume his club football with Dortmund this weekend, as German football is poised to resume following the coronavirus pandemic, which has brought football right across the globe to a halt, has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League over the past few months, with both Chelsea and Manchester United very keen on the idea of landing the 19-year-old.

This season, Sancho, who moved to Dortmund back in 2017 from Manchester City, has been absolutely outstanding for the Bundesliga title hopefuls, playing a direct hand in 36 goals in all competitions this season, scoring 17 and racking up 19 assists.

It is that sort of quality that has led to plenty of speculation about his future, as both Chelsea and United plot moves for the young starlet.

Whilst it is only too well documented that Dortmund will not be willing to part with one of the most highly sought-after young players in world football without a transfer-fee around the £100million mark, Sancho could be tempted to return to his homeland and test himself in the Premier League.

Should Sancho join either Frank Lampard's Blues or United in the next transfer window - though it has not been decided when it could open amid the COVID-19 crisis - he wouldn't be the first winger to swap Dortmund for the Premier League.

Last summer, USA international Pulisic left Dortmund to join Chelsea and has experienced a relatively solid first season in English football, even though injury troubles have somewhat limited his opportunities.

But when he has been strutting his stuff, the 21-year-old has shown some encouraging signs.

Now, the Blues winger, who has netted five goals in the Premier League this term, believes his former teammate's performances in Germany could go a long way in determining a possible return to England.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pulisic explained: "He [Sancho] was given an opportunity, just like I was, at a very high level, and they show you right away that they trust you and they're going to give an equal opportunity to all the players.

"He's done an amazing job since he came in and has obviously shown what abilities he has."

Should Chelsea be able to pull off a deal for Sancho, it would bolster Frank Lampard's options on the right-wing as he is poised to lose both Pedro and Willian when their contracts expire this summer, though they could be temporarily extended if the season is given the green light to be concluded.
