Christian Pulisic delivers huge injury update ahead of Chelsea return

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has delivered a positive message on his injury status, confirming that he was ready to return to action just as the Premier League campaign was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The winger, who joined the Blues from German giants Borussia Dortmund last summer, has not played since the New Year's Day draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion after suffering a tear in his abductor muscle.

Pulisic, who has scored six goals for Chelsea this season, did initially return to training in late January but suffered a setback, which meant he was unable to train until early March, which, of course, was just before the season was suspended.

As disappointing and frustrating as that must have been for the 21-year-old, it does now mean, though, he will be in great shape for if and when the season does return, as Chelsea aim to try and seal a Champions League spot for next season.

Issuing an update on his fitness, Pulisic said: "I’m feeling great. Right before this whole thing happened I was actually back in training and feeling really good and ready to go.

“It was really unfortunate timing. As soon as I felt like I was back, now this has happened. It is what it is. Now I just have a bit more time to get it completely right and be 100 percent ready once I’m back.”

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge last summer, the winger has scored six goals and claimed six assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
