Christian Pulisic can help land Chelsea alternative as World Cup tactic proves Mason Mount point

Group B includes a lot of familiar names for Chelsea supporters at the World Cup in Qatar. Five players currently contracted to the club are involved across three nations.

Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher for England, whilst Christian Pulisic and Ethan Ampadu are the lone representatives for the USA and Wales respectively.

Apart from that, there are still some names who have sparked transfer interest from the Blues and could be arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2023. The obvious ones from England include midfielders Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, two names who have been consistently linked to the club since 2020.

Bellingham as a marauding No.8 alongside Mount in England's progressive 4-3-3 formation against Iran proved why he has prompted the interest of Europe's biggest hitters since joining Borussia Dortmund.

A less well know gem who attracted praise in the opening round of games is Pulisic's American teammate Antonee Robinson. The Fulham left-back excited down the flank in Monday's draw with Wales. The 25-year-old has impressed for the west London club this season and in their recent promotion from the Championship.

A regular for the United States under Gregg Berhalter, Robinson will be aiming to shock Gareth Southgate's England on Friday night at the Al Bayt Stadium in a crucial group-stage clash.

Sergino Dest is another American full-back Chelsea have been linked to in the past from Barcelona. Dest played against Chelsea twice last month in the Champions League for AC Milan after joining the Serie A club on loan during the summer. Dest was touted as a potential transfer option last January after the cruciate ligament injury suffered by Ben Chilwell.
