Christian Eriksen to leave hospital after collapse during friendly match

  • Christian Eriksen is anticipated to be discharged from hospital after he collapsed during Denmark's friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday.
  • The Danish Football Union confirmed Eriksen was "conscious and doing well" and in good spirits, with national team doctor Morten Boesen stating he is with his family.
  • Eriksen had previously suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, which led to him being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device to enable him to continue his professional football career.
  • During Sunday's fixture, with Denmark leading 2-1, Eriksen experienced discomfort and briefly lost consciousness, but was seen waving to his teammates as he was taken off the pitch.
  • His medical history includes requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at Parken Stadium during Euro 2020 and having a pacemaker fitted, which necessitated his move from Inter Milan due to Serie A regulations. He later went on to play for Brentford and Manchester United in the Premier League before joining German side Wolfsburg last season.
