Christian Eriksen sends positive message upon being discharged from hospital after collapse

Christian Eriksen has been discharged from the Rigshospitalet hospital in Denmark following his collapse whilst playing for his country six days ago.

The Danish midfielder went down in the 43 rd minute of the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland, and it quickly became clear that the situation was a serious one.

The game was suspended for more than 90 minutes while the 29-year-old was assessed and treated by medics on the pitch. He was then transferred to hospital where it was later reported that he was in a stable condition.

The match resumed later in the day, with Finland ending up 1-0 winners.

Fortunately, it seems as though he is well on his way to making a good recovery, as a statement by the Danish FA read: “Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation - that saw him fitted with an ICD - and was today discharged from Righsospitalet.

“Today he also visited the national team in Helsingor – and from there he will go home and spend time with his family.”

Following his operation, Eriksen also released a statement, which was tweeted by the Danish FA: “Thank you for the massive number of greetings – it has been incredible to see and feel,” he said.

“The operation went well, and I am doing well under the circumstances.

“It was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night. No need to say, that I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia.”

Let’s hope Eriksen continues to make a speedy, and healthy recovery.
