Christian Eriksen sends Brentford fans message after sealing Premier League return: ‘I can’t wait to get started’

Christian Eriksen says he “can’t wait to get started” after signing for Brentford.

The former Tottenham midfielder has joined the Bees on an initial six-month contract until the end of the season.

Eriksen’s move completes an amazing comeback from the Dane, who suffered a cardiac arrest while playing at Euro 2020 last summer.

He has since been fitted with an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) and in December Inter Milan mutually terminated his contract as regulations meant he could not play in Serie A.

Eriksen is, however, able to play in England and Brentford have pulled off a coup by bringing the 29-year-old to west London.

He is currently training with old club Ajax in the Netherlands to get his fitness up and will arrive in the UK in a few days’ time.

“Hi everyone, it is Christian Eriksen,” the midfielder said in a short video message posted by Brentford on social media.

“I am happy to announce that I’ve signed for Brentford Football Club and I can’t wait to get started.

“Hopefully I will see you all very soon.”
