Christian Eriksen released from hospital after surgery as Denmark star issues statement

Christian Eriksen has been released from hospital six days after he collapsed while playing for Denmark.

The Inter Milan star received CPR treatment after falling to the turf in the first half of his side's 1-0 Euro 2020 defeat to Finland on Saturday.

Play was halted as medics attended to Eriksen who was subsequently carried off the pitch in Copenhagen on a stretcher before being taken to hospital.

The former Tottenham star has undergone an operation but has now left hospital and will spend time with his family after visiting his Denmark team mates.

"Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet," read a statement from the Danish FA.

"Today he also visited the national team in Helsingor - and from there he will go home and spend time with his family."

As part of the official announcement, the DBU also included a message from Eriksen himself.

It read: "Thank you for the massive number of greetings - it has been incredible to see and feel.

"The operation went well, and I am doing well under the circumstances.

"It was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night.

"No need to say, that I will be cheering them on on Monday against Russia."
