Christian Eriksen on Tottenham title challenge: 'Everything is possible'

Christian Eriksen believes Tottenham are still contenders for the Premier League title after passing a tough test against Leicester City at Wembley.

Goals from Davinson Sanchez, Eriksen and Heung-min Son helped Spurs overcome Leicester 3-1 on Sunday, though the result was far from certain at times.

Tottenham went ahead through Sanchez who scored his first goal for the London club by meeting Eriksen's whipped cross with a diving header in the 33rd minute, although Leicester's players complained he was in an offside position.

Leicester missed the chance to equalise on the hour mark when substitute Jamie Vardy's penalty - his first touch after coming on - was pushed away by Hugo Lloris after Jan Vertonghen was adjudged to have fouled James Maddison in the box.

Tottenham doubled their lead three minutes later as Eriksen collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a fierce shot past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Vardy made up for his earlier miss by tapping in from close range 14 minutes from the final whistle after a well worked move allowed Ricardo Pereira to drill in a cross from the right.

After a sustained period of Leicester pressure, Son settled nerves of the home supporters by slotting in Tottenham's third with a solo run from the halfway line.

On another day Leicester may have punished Spurs, but the Foxes were made to pay for wasteful finishing as Mauricio Pochettino's side collected another three valuable points to leave them five behind leaders Liverpool after 26 games each.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Eriksen was asked about Tottenham's title chances and replied: "Everything is possible."

Eriksen added: "We can definitely say Hugo Lloris saved us a few times. Saving a penalty gave us extra confidence.

"I saw a stat that we have won games after scoring in last 10 minutes."

Son's late goal ended the match as a contest, and came just after Leicester were pushing for an equaliser.

"The moment to get the goal was very important," Son said. "I was confident because I was one-on-one. The keeper was very big but I was confident to score with my left foot."
