Christian Eriksen has said now is the hardest time of his Tottenham Hotspur career.
The Denmark international arrived in north London from Ajax six summers ago and has been part of the squad which has gone from strength to strength under Mauricio Pochettino since the 2014/2015 campaign.
Despite not ending the club's over decade long trophy drought, under the Argentine Spurs have finished in the top four in four consecutive seasons as well as reaching the Champions League final.
However, the Lilywhites are enduring a poor run of form under Pochettino.
Defeats against Bayern Munich and Brighton over the past week compounded with crashing out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two Colchester United has heaped pressure on Pochettino.
And Eriksen, who was linked with an exit in the summer, has reflected on Spurs' bad start to the season and has issued a rallying call to his teammates.
"It's definitely my hardest time right now at Tottenham," he told Danish publication Ekstra Bladet. "The first year when I came was probably a bit up and down, but since Pochettino came in 2014 it has been a success story.
"Expectations for us are at a completely different level now.
"We have to win every time and it's the same feeling we have as players as well. We as players must try to keep all the negative things completely out. But the reason for our results is actually hard to answer.
"We can't close the matches, even though we are ahead.
"But we have also been unlucky."
The international break has probably come at the best time for Spurs and Pochettino as it gives most players time away from the club.
They'll look to get back to winning ways when they welcome bottom of the table Watford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a week on Saturday.
