Christian Eriksen living at Inter Milan training ground after house search halted by pandemic

Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed that he has been living at the club’s training ground after the coronavirus outbreak cut short his house search.

The former Tottenham star only joined Inter in January and had not yet had time to find a house in Milan when the pandemic began.

Caught out, Eriksen told of how he considered asking fellow Premier League exports Ashley Young and Romelu Lukaku to take him in, before deciding to stay at the Angelo Moratti Sports Centre.

“I thought of talking to Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young, but they already had families to look after, and 14 days sleeping on someone's sofa is too long,” Eriksen told Jyllands Posten.

“Instead, I ended up staying at the club's training structure with a chef and five members of staff who chose to quarantine themselves in order to protect their families.

“I've been running around the parking lot basement and calculated I can run 35 metres, then have to take a turn and run 35 metres back.

“I haven't touched the ball in seven weeks. It's been the longest period without football in my life and I really am starting to miss it.”

The UK is the only European country to have recorded a higher death toll than Italy, where more than 30,000 have passed away after contracting the disease so far.
