Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen has confirmed Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when he collapsed on the pitch against Finland and that “he was gone” before being resuscitated.
Eriksen was given CPR by medics during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener in Copenhagen on Saturday after he collapsed face-first into the pitch while running to receive a throw-in.
The Danish football association said on Sunday morning that Eriksen is in a stable condition and will stay in hospital for further examinations.
Denmark team doctor Boesen said on Sunday afternoon: “We got him back after one defib. That’s quite fast… How close were we? I don't know.”
On Sunday morning the Danish FA tweeted an update which said: “This morning we have spoken to Christian Eriksen, who has sent his greetings to his teammates.
“His condition is stable, and he continues to be hospitalised for further examination.
“The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday’s incident.”
