Christian Eriksen says he "won't give up" in the Denmark star's first public message since suffering a cardiac arrest.
The Inter Milan player collapsed during Saturday's game against Finland in Copenhagen, and received prolonged treatment on the pitch before being transferred to hospital where he remains in a “stable” condition.
Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen, later revealed that Eriksen "was gone" on the pitch before being resuscitated via a defibrillator, adding: "How close were we to losing him? I don’t know."
In a message via his agent, Martin Schoots, to Gazzetta dello Sport, Eriksen had a message for fans.
"Thank you, I won't give up," Eriksen said. "I feel better now - but I want to understand what's happened.
"I want to say thank you all for what you did for me."
Later on Monday, Jakob Hoeyer, communications director at the Danish football association, told reporters: "We are in touch with him. We were in touch with him yesterday and today. (His) condition is the same as yesterday, stable, good.
Eriksen, on Sunday, also had a message for his team-mates, who returned to the pitch 90 minutes after the incident to finish the game, which they lost 1-0.
Denmark coach Kasper Hjumland relayed Eriksen's message, which said: "I think you are feeling worse than I am. I feel as if I'm about to go training now, boys."
