Christian Eriksen latest: Denmark player awake and stable in hospital after collapsing on pitch

Christian Eriksen is awake and stable in hospital after the Denmark talisman collapsed on the pitch during his country's game with Finland.

Eriksen fell to the turf while running near the touchline during the 42 minute of the first half of the Euro 2020 clash.

There was immediate concern from players of both countries, with his teammates forming a barrier around him.

Medical staff rushed on to the field of play and CPR was administered.

Eriksen's wife came on to the pitch and was consoled by Kasper Schmeichel, who himself was in tears.

The Finland players and match officials then left the pitch, before the fixture was officially suspended.

Eventually news filtered through on social media that Eriksen was awake when he was taken from the pitch while a doctor was seen giving a thumbs up.

UEFA have since stated: "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."
