Christian Eriksen collapse sparks remarkable exchange between fans inside stadium as match restarts tonight

Rival fans from Finland and Denmark came together in a show of support for Christian Eriksen, with the game between the two sides due to restart at 7:30pm GMT.

The Euro 2020 clash was suspended when Eriksen collapsed on the pitch shortly before half time.

Amid distressing scenes, Danish players formed a shield around the midfielder as CPR was performed.

The television feed was cut as Finnish players left the field and Eriksen was stretchered away.

UEFA and the Danish Football Association have since said that the player has 'stabilised' and is 'awake' after being transferred to hospital.

Pictures have also emerged showing the player sitting upright and awake as he was stretchered off the pitch.

Around an hour after the incident, fans from both sides were still inside the stadium in Copenhagen and began chanting.

Finland supporters were shouting "Christian" with the Danish counterparts replying "Eriksen" in a show of support.

It has now also been confirmed that the game will restart this evening.

In a statement, the Danish FA said: "Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable.

"He remains hospitalized at Rigshospitalet for further examinations.

"The match against Finland will be played tonight. This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is okay."

UEFA said: "Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET.

"The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.

"The match had been suspended due to a medical emergency which involved Denmark's Christian Eriksen. The player in now in hospital and in a stable condition.

"UEFA wishes Christian Eriksen a full and speedy recovery and wishes to thank both teams for their exemplary attitude.

"Tonight's UEFA EURO 2020 match between Belgium and Russia will go ahead at 21:00 CET as planned."
