Christian Eriksen 'awake' after Euro 2020 collapse as Danish icon transferred to hospital

Danish football icon Christian Eriksen is conscious following his frightening collapse at in his country's Euro 2020 opener.

The clash with Finland was called to a halt when the Inter superstar crumpled to the ground before half time.

The Parken Stadium was forced into a shocked silence as Eriksen received emergency treatment from medical staff.

Pictures have emerged since that show the former Tottenham star sitting up as he left the stadium on a stretcher.

And now UEFA have provided a health update with worried lovers of the beautiful game frantically searching for updates about the beloved player.

It said: "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."

And a Denmark statement added more clarity by saying: “Christian Eriksen is awake and is undergoing further examinations at Rigshospitalet”
