Hibs star Christian Doidge has been ruled out of action for a minimum of 12 weeks after picking up an ankle injury, according to a report.
The Welsh frontman doesn't need surgery on the injury but won't play for at least three months as he overcomes the issue.
Doidge picked up the injury on training on Wednesday and missed out on Thursday night’s Europa Conference League clash with Rijeka.
And the Edinburgh Evening News claim tests on his return to Scotland show he will miss a minimum of three months.
He’s in a protective boot and it’s highly unlikely he’ll be involved in first team football until after the winter break.
It’s a major blow for Doidge who was impressing for Jack Ross’ men, and Wales were believed to be considering him for a call up for World Cup qualifiers next month.
It means Hibs could push harder to get Chris Mueller in immediately instead of waiting until his contract is up in America in January.
Kevin Nisbet is the only recognised No. 9 in the first team squad, although Martin Boyle can also play up there.
